Parenting has become more complex thanks to social media, but the challenges are not new. There have always been children who are sometimes – or often – isolated from the group or mistreated by other kids. It is not new for girls to climb the social ladder on somebody else’s back or for boys to gay-bait the less athletic ones on the field. Children know all about the pecking order; it is we, the grownups, who don’t quite get it. We desperately want to protect our children from harm and yet we don’t quite know how to do that. Joanne Kates speaks and answers questions to help parents understand and combat bullying. In an effort to “Connect the Past with the Present and build towards the Future” of North Toronto athletics, a group of individuals (alumni and new parents alike) have formed, putting effort towards raising awareness of the legacy of success stories at NT and, of course, furthering those winning traditions. The objective is to get into the hearts and minds of those who have worn Red & Grey on the field of sport, as well as those who celebrate/celebrated from the sidelines. One need look no further than the walls of NTCI to understand the rich history that NT has on the track, in the pool, on the field in and in gymnasiums across the province. But, like many successful organizations, the programs need support for infrastructure, equipment, uniforms, AV equipment, sports, science and more. Going forward, a number of events will be held over the course of the school year to reconnect with families and friends of NT and also reach out for financial support to further the schools chances of athletic success in the future. One such example… Coming this May 17th 2018, the first ever fund/friend raising event is being held at Safari Bar & Grill. This event will serve as a spring board for future events to drive awareness and provide resources for NT athletes & programs. Help us maintain and further the legacy of sports success stories at North Toronto! We want athletes and their families, past and present to Be Part of the Action and take a leading role in continuing the memories of athletics at NT https://northtoronto.snapd.com/events/view/1138475 Our Music Banquet this year will be at Uptown Lofts - 2464 Yonge Street, and will begin at 5:30 on May 23rd.
