Acknowledgements & Upcoming Events & Dates Easter holiday: April 19-22 (inclusive). No classes. Staff meeting: April 24. Classes begin at 10 am. Grade 9 Geography Summative Field Trip to High Park: Friday April 26. Maytime Melodies dress rehearsals: April 29 & 30. Early school closing at 1:55 pm on each day. Maytime Melodies concerts: May 2 & 3 at 7 pm. >From the Music Department! Parents, families and friends of the North Toronto community are invited to our 73rd Maytime Melodies concert on May 2 and 3 at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased through cash online or at the door on the nights of the performances. Performing groups include multiple choirs, bands, string orchestras, the symphony orchestra, the stage band, the Hodgson MS Wind Ensemble, percussion ensemble, and electronic ensemble. We look forward to celebrating our students' hard work and talent that allow us to carry on NTCI's long tradition of musical excellence. School Council news! Our next School Council meeting will take place on Monday April 29 at 7:30 pm in room 215. Our guest will be award-winning parenting author and therapist, Sara Dimerman, who will speak to us on the topic of her new book, due to be released on May 7th: "Don't Leave, Please Go: what you (and your teen) need to know before heading to university or college": teens preparing for living away at university or college, while parental anxiety intensifies. Teens and parents feel excited about increased independence and autonomy, at not having to nag or be nagged and about taking the next big step into the "real" world. Sara will share with us what you (and your teen) need to know before heading to university or college. Please join us for a 7:30 pm sharp (we will begin this meeting with our guest speaker)! Northern Secondary School invites parents at North Toronto CI to join the NSS school council on May 7 at 6:30 pm for a special event. Michael Eisen, founder of the Youth Wellness Network, will present "Empowering your Family: How to improve Communication and decrease Stress so your teenager reaches Full Potential". Michael will share strategies on how to reduce conflict and improve family relationships during the high school years so that kids gain confidence, good judgment and resilience as they enter adulthood. There will be time for questions following his presentation. Northern Secondary School is located at 851 Mount Pleasant Road just north of Eglinton. The presentation will take place in the Library on the lower level. There is free parking in the lot behind the school. This event is funded by a PRO grant provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
