School Council news!
Our next School Council meeting will take place on Monday April 29 at 7:30 pm
in room 215.
Our guest will be award-winning parenting author and therapist, Sara Dimerman,
who will speak to us on the topic of her new book, due to be released on May
7th: "Don't Leave, Please Go: what you (and your teen) need to know before
heading to university or college": teens preparing for living away at
university or college, while parental anxiety intensifies. Teens and parents
feel excited about increased independence and autonomy, at not having to nag or
be nagged and about taking the next big step into the "real" world. Sara will
share with us what you (and your teen) need to know before heading to
university or college.
Please join us for a 7:30 pm sharp (we will begin this meeting with our guest
speaker)!

Winter Sports 2019! From Ms. Rough, North Toronto's Athletic Director
Frigid temperatures challenged outdoor as well as indoor sports this winter as
we played our regular and playoff season. However, more than 300 NT students
kept warm being physically active during this long season from November to
March, participating in:

§ Practices, Games, Tournaments

§ Intramural games: Ball hockey

§ Sport clubs: archery, badminton, table tennis, spikeball

§ Fitness: weight room workouts and our Exercise to Success program.
We ended our winter season with our annual Senior Girls vs Boys Volleyball
Charity Game raising money for Forests Ontario! The event was well attended
with over 100 students applauding the many amazing plays. Congratulations to
all teams for their successful seasons and thank you to all coaches for
donating their time and effort to their athletes.

Team updates:
Alpine Ski & Snowboarding
It was cold on the hills but there was at least an abundance of snow.

OFSAA: 4 athletes represented North Toronto at the Ontario Finals
Basketball
Sr. Boys: With highly skilled veterans leading the way, the team made it to
the Regional Semi-Finals.
Jr. Boys: Between tournaments and league games, the boys had many
opportunities to develop their skills during their 26 games season! Highlights:
placing first at the Hoopdome and Churchill tournaments and achieving a 10 game
winning streak!

Curling
In total, we had 8 teams of students at the rinks skipping and sweeping at the
recreation or competitive level. We had many newbies out to learn with the help
of the veteran senior students.
NT had two first places finishes:
The Girls Competitive team won the South Regional Finals!
The Coed Curling team won the Division B level Regional Finals

Hockey (Boys)
It was a busy season as NT was fortunate to have enough coaches, organizers and
players to support 2 teams this year! Highlights included playing
tournaments and the A Team placed 3rd place in the regular season and made it
to the South Region Semi Finals. NT lost a tough game against the defending
City Champs by one goal.

Hockey (Girls)
Similar to the boy's team, the girl's team progressed to the Semi-Final game
after winning against Leaside. In the Semi-Final game, we lost to the
defending and OFSAA rep team. Highlights: we had a range of players from
grades 9-12 with all abilities and experiences which makes for a supportive and
fun environment amongst the team even with the push to be competitive within
our sport.

Swimming
It was a great season filled with lots of fast races and personal best times.
Regional: Congratulations to the OPEN Girls Team winning the Regional
Championship!
OFSAA : Seven swimmers represented NT at the Ontario Finals
The team is looking forward to being back at the NTMCC for practices next year.

Senior: The girls had a perfect season (0 losses) and won both the MacDonald &
Northern tournaments. Congratulations to the Senior Girls for winning the South
Regional Championship!
Placed 2nd in the City Finals
Junior: Regional Semi-Finalists
Winning the Northern tournament was a memorable experience!

Even though this cold weather continues, spring has sprung at NT and our teams
are already practicing, racing and competing in games outside!
Come out and cheer on our rugby, ultimate, archery, table tennis, soccer,
track, beach volleyball, softball and baseball teams. Schedules are posted on
the TDSB Sports Page.
