OSSTF job action update
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) has announced that,
should progress not be made in negotiations, its members (teachers and
education workers) will conduct another one-day walkout (full withdrawal of
services) at a number of school boards, including the Toronto District School
Board, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. They will return to work on Wednesday,
January 22.
Should the walkout take place, the TDSB would, once again, have no other option
but to close all secondary schools (Grades 9 to 12) to students, including
Adult Day Schools and Night Schools offering secondary credits, as there would
not be sufficient supervision to ensure their safety. All classes, including
secondary eLearning classes, and any out-of-school activities (e.g. field
trips, sports, etc.) on that day would be cancelled. As a result,
parents/guardians should make alternate arrangements for their children if
required. General Interest and Adult ESL courses would not be impacted.

Mon. Jan. 20-Fri. Jan. 24: NT Charity Week in support of Skylark
Students will be involved in fund-raising activities to support Skylark, a
Toronto-based charity dedicated to serving children, youth and families
struggling with complex mental health and developmental needs.

Mon. Jan. 20: NT Foundation (Alumni) meeting 7pm

Wed. Jan. 23: Last date for students to drop a course before February report
card.
All students need to have their paperwork submitted to their counsellor in
Guidance by 4 pm on this date.

Fri. Jan. 31: Term 2 begins

Thurs. Feb. 6: Report card distribution - report card packages will be
distributed to students during Home Form period. Report card packages will
include:

1. Grades 9, 11 and 12 students: February interim report cards

2. Grade 10 and ESL students: February interim report cards (white) and
Provincial report cards (blue) indicating final marks in Civic/Careers and/or
ESL classes

>From Public Health!
Toronto Public Health is assessing student immunization records to ensure
student vaccinations are up-to-date according to their age. Students who are
not yet in compliance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act have been sent
a letter requesting updated immunization information to their home address.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to report their child's updated immunization
to Toronto Public Health online at the following link:
toronto.ca/studentvaccines. The system is secure, fast and easy to use.
Students who have not updated their immunization records may face a school
suspension starting February 6, 2020.
