Acknowledgements, Upcoming Events & Dates Technical issue with our server: NT's Microsoft Outlook server blocked all emails to parents with outlook.com<http://outlook.com> or hotmail.com<http://hotmail.com> addresses and now those addresses have been deleted from the mailing list. If you have been receiving weekly bulletins at an Outlook or Hotmail email address, please go to the North Toronto website (www.ntic.on.ca<http://www.ntic.on.ca>), click on About/Office, and then NT Mailing Lists, and please re-enter your email address. The system has been re-set to now accept Outlook and Hotmail accounts. Today's bulletin will also be sent via School Connects to ensure that all parents are aware of the server problem. Staff update: Jocelyn Wickett will be on a medical leave of absence starting on Monday until the March break. North Toronto welcomes Arthur Burrows as her short-term replacement. Wed. Jan. 29: Parent Course Selection Info Night: cancelled due to OSSTF work sanctions. If you have questions about the course selection process, please contact your child's Guidance counsellor. Thur. Jan. 30: The TDSB Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program would like to invite interested parents and guardians for an evening of information about how and why they should consider a career in the skilled trades for their student. The evening will include presentations from Jamie McMillan, Jon Callegher, and TDSB OYAP. Jamie is an ironworker that sits on Prime Minister Trudeau's new advisory committee on the skilled trades. Jon is a millennial sociologist from George Brown College who created the Job Talks video series. Date/Time: Thursday January 30th 6:30-8:30pm Where: Central Technical School 725 Bathurst St in the Auditorium. Parking available in the Borden St. lot across from the school. Fri. Jan. 31: Term 2 begins Mon. Feb. 3: The Republic Residents' Association (representing residents of 25 Broadway and 70 Roehampton) invite the school community to their annual general meeting from 7:30-9:30pm at 70 Roehampton in the party room. There will be several important guest speakers who will update residents on the area development: Stuart McGhie: construction hub coordinator for Yonge/Eglinton Josh Matlow: Councillor, ward 12 Jaye Robinson: Councillor, ward 15 Jill Andrew: MPP, Toronto St. Paul's Thurs. Feb. 6: Report card distribution - report card packages will be distributed to students during Home Form period. Report card packages will include: 1. Grades 9, 11 and 12 students: February interim report cards (white) 2. Grade 10 and ESL students: February interim report cards (white) and Provincial report cards (blue) indicating final marks in Civic/Careers and/or ESL classes >From the School Parent Council! Our next Parent Council meeting is fast approaching, on Monday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. We encourage you to attend this very informative meeting jam-packed with guest presenters: - Cannabis and Teenagers: Latest data on the effects of cannabis in young adults - risks to mental health and cognition. Presenting Dr. Ruth Ross, Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Toronto. -Parents groups' presentations: Music Council, NTCI Foundation, North Toronto Alumni Council and the NT Athletic Committee will tell us about their role within the NT community, resources they work with, how to get involved, and contact points. Toronto Public Health is assessing student immunization records to ensure student vaccinations are up-to-date according to their age. Students who are not yet in compliance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act have been sent a letter requesting updated immunization information to their home address. Parents/guardians are encouraged to report their child's updated immunization to Toronto Public Health online at the following link: toronto.ca/studentvaccines. The system is secure, fast and easy to use. Students who have not updated their immunization records may face a school suspension starting February 6, 2020. Charity Week Update: Thanks to families and students for supporting this week's Charity Week's booths and events. We have raised a large amount of money for Skylark!
