Same here. Love Classic Shell. h8ted win8 without it (SWIDT –sc?)

My win8 laptop has touch but I usually use it docked and via the desktop.
Predominately use my Surface from desktop w/keyboard although I am finally
getting used to touch on both devices for some really quick things and actually
make a conscious choice to use it much more than I used to. Learning all the KB
shortcuts is a really big help.

Every once and a while I try to swipe a conventional monitor now…doh

I use it every day on my home workstation. I would not use it without
something like Classic Shell. I have a couple of WS2012 machines at work and I
tolerate the UI, but I don't like it. I have desktop and taskbar shortcuts to
PoSh, cmd, control panel, etc. so that I don't have to use the idiotic new
start menu very often.

Windows 8 is great for both desktop and touch.

Yes, Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade and will be available around October. For
those already running Windows 8 when it releases, it will be available from the
Windows app store.

I have a client that is upgrading (replacing the drive so it will not be a real
upgrade) his machine from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro. I got a great
deal on a full copy of Windows 8 Pro for him. The drive is about to be
ordered. The question is from what I have been told at the Orlando Microsoft
Store front those people running Windows 8 (RT, Pro, Phone) will be getting the
new Windows 8.1 when it is released. I would like to confirm this and find out
if this will come by way of a download using Windows Update or what?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks a lot!
