Maybe the Add/Remove applet in Control Panel gives a Modify choice.
Usually the key-based feature unlocking is done at install-time. I don’t know
if MS made Visio follow this model but my general experience is it’s better to
just remove and re-install than muck about with cfg files and the registry.

Subject: [NTSysADM] Software question

Not really a sysadmin question but:

I have a user that requested Visio. Our normal procedures is to install
Standard, which we did. Now, he’s saying that it doesn’t meet his needs, and
he needs Professional. We have licensing, so no big deal either way but:

Has Microsoft changed it’s install to a key-based feature unlocking system?
The folders I have for Standard and Pro are exactly the same size, so I’m
wondering if I can just change his Product Key, and he’ll be in business.

Anyone know?

Thanks,

Joe Heaton
