The server in question is going to be the Hyper-V host- so it really wont have
any software on it (other than the Hyper V).

In the past, I’ve always deferred to doing fresh installs. However, I have
done about 5 or 6 of the 2008R2-to-2012 in place upgrades, and all have gone
extremely
well. The whole upgrade process completes in under 2 hours. So long as the
software on the server is compatible with 2012, you might want to consider an
upgrade to save time…. Really up to you.

I'm installing my new server 2012 and was wondering if it has been confirmed
wheter 2012r2 will be an inplace upgrade or not.
