I rather doubt it, even this OOB patch for XP is beyond the normal. I would not 
expect to see this in the future from M$ IMHO.

The question is: Are they setting a precedence?

I actually hope they are; I think they should continue to fix critical flaws in 
XP for as long as the OS is used by a large part of the community.
