Reminds me of HP. They started out with the HP Technology Forum, which was an excellent place to meet and talk with engineers, get training, and actually learn something. This mutated into HP Discover, which is an IT Executive schmooz-fest consisting of sales sessions on how you can replace your IT staff with HP services and move all your data into the cloud. Held twice a year, one in Vegas the other in Barcelona, tells you immediately how big the party is. I’ve been looking for a good replacement for it ever since. Hearing some of you talk about Tech-Ed I was optimistic but now it seems it going the same direction. Anyone have any suggestions for a technical-based forum for people who want to learn about the technology rather than go to Paul McCartney concerts and drink free booze? (Yeah, I know. Call me silly but for some reason I’d prefer to get educated rather than bombed. I guess I’m making up for my college days). The MVPs (Lync, Exchange, SharePoint, Office, I can’t speak for any of the rest) hate it. Rod can tell us for certain, but I’m pretty sure the System Center folks hate it too (they had MMS).
