That is my understanding with much of the Firefox settings. I learned that as we decided what was going to be our two supported browsers. We went with Chrome and IE.
Firefox just doesn't scale. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] on behalf of Phil Brutsche [[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2014 6:07 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [NTSysADM] Pushing proxy for Firefox Very simply, no. It's not in the standard install. There is a GPO add-in for Firefox but it is not kept up-to-date with the latest versions, and it is trivially bypassed (ie the user can disable the addin). I do know there are ways to configure Firefox to use the system proxy settings, but none of the Mozilla-supported procedures follow platform standards… on any of the platforms Firefox runs on. -- Phil Brutsche [email protected] From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2014 10:42 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NTSysADM] Pushing proxy for Firefox Can't you do it via Registry in Group Policy Preferences? Despatched via Blackberry. Mock if you will, but it gets my email without a fuss. ________________________________ From: "Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sender: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2014 15:36:15 +0000 To: NT System Admin Issues Discussion list<[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> ReplyTo: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [NTSysADM] Pushing proxy for Firefox Our organization is moving towards using a proxy for internet browsing. Trouble is, we allow multiple browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox). Chrome is easy since it uses the settings from IE, and IE has GPO settings I can use. But Firefox doesn’t. I’ve found a couple of tools on the internet, but was wondering if anyone here had hands-on experience doing this already, and had a preferred method they’d like to share.
