I am not sure you "need" to reimage. We have some systems that do not work with different versions of Java. We have been stuck at 7u51 for one application until 7u67 came out. We have had good success at just removing the offending version(which I consider all versions), and then rebooting and installing the older version. I keep all versions so I can roll back. Currently I have 44 different 6&7 versions just in case we ever need to go back to them.
