Uh, the HAL on Win7 is the same for a given CPU architecture, which includes both x86 and x64 multiprocessor flavors.
That error has to do with boot media accessibility, not HAL issues. -sc From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Daniel Chenault Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2014 10:36 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NTSysADM] move hdd with windows 7 on it It's a little more complex than that. Basically the HAL is wrong. You *might* be able to fix it by booting in safe mode and (assuming it boots at all) removing ALL device drivers, then reboot and have it prompt you. You'll need the appropriate build of Windows on a CD/DVD for that. Usually when going between hardware platforms it takes a reinstall to do it right. I cloned the hdd and installed it in a quad core i5 pc. It fails to boot and give the error “boot selection failed because required device is inaccessible” 0xc000000e. I obviously want to prevent from reinstalling the OS. Is the problem because I’m going from a dual to a quad core CPU? Does anyone know? Thanks, Jimmy
