I had to do this 2 years ago, it’s a pain, but what Jim said below is spot on.

I just went through this a few months back. Be honest and up front and it is no
big deal. I was down a couple of Office licenses and had to provide them proof
that I purchased them to meet compliance. No big deal but it can be nerve
wracking.

Just got an e-mail from Microsoft to do an Microsoft License Review:

We are requesting your support to conduct a License Review at “Name of Our
Company”, The primary goals of this engagement will be to establish a license
position baseline by reconciling installed Microsoft Software with purchase
records, and completing a high-level “Current State Assessment” of your SAM
policies and practices, with recommendations on how to optimize SAM within your
enterprise and present you with an official Effective License Position (ELP)
document

So is this an audit or what?
