Bingo! I had a shortcut on the desktop to the command prompt, and was running regedit, Using your method C:\Windows\regedit.exe it showed-
thanks for the pointer From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [NTSysADM] wow6432node hidden/missing Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2015 23:09:45 +0000 yep. I’ve seen it and can replicate it on queue. If you are opening the registry in a 32-bit context on that server, you won’t see the Wow6432Node key. This can happen if regedit is being executed from a 32-bit app, e.g. 32-bit CMD, or 32-bit version of regedit (i.e. c:\Windows\SysWOW64\regedit.exe) Things to check are: · How are you opening the registry? try typing “C:\Windows\regedit.exe” into a Run window. · Check the path environment variable to ensure that C:\Windows\SysWOW64 is not before any of the native locations, i.e. C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32, etc From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of J- P Sent: Tuesday, 6 January 2015 9:54 AM To: NT Subject: [NTSysADM] wow6432node hidden/missing OS 2012r1 So this one really has me stumped, i'm troubleshooting an app and it says check the key in HKLM\Software\wow6432node So I open the registry and the the ENTIRE WOW6432 IS MISSING, so i go the second server, also a 2012r1 installed from the same media at the same time, sure enough , as expected the key is there. So I decide , lets try cross connecting to the registries via remote and these are the results >From the server with the full registry HKLM\SW\6432 , if I connect to the >server where its missing, it does show the HKLM\6432 key and subkeys. However, from the server with the missing/hidden 6432 , if I connect to any other server it does NOT show the HKLM\6432 . So it seems like the view is being somehow "filtered" , has anyone every seen such a thing? Jean-Paul Natola This email, including any attachments, is confidential.
