You updated drivers (did that include mass storage controller drivers?). Seems 
that the logical process would be to boot into repair mode, and replace the 
drivers you installed with the previous working version. It's hardware related, 
but I doubt it's a hardware failure.

My only concern is if they bring up something hardware related (which clearly 
is not the case since the windows installation is acknowledged), I wont be able 
to get any dell support till Monday.

Have you verified the NTFS filesystem package?  Sounds like it needs to be 
repaired or reinstalled.
