Get rid of IMAP. :)

Just went through something similar this weekend. Moved 6 accounts from IMAP
to Office 365 using the Outlook 2013 Click to Run install. 5 of the 6
accounts had issues.

Before I started I exported everyone's outlook 2013 IMAP account to a .pst
file.

While exporting verified each OWA account worked.

First account seemed to get stuck on the export. After 6 hours still didn't
finish with a 3 gig file size. The others including one 8 gig in size did.
Started over and same thing happened. Had to go in and export each folder I
needed separately.

Verified file sizes were similar in size.

Rebooted and then uninstalled Office 365 Home plan. They were sharing this
version among everyone in the office. Rebooted again.

After installing Office 2013 from the Office 365 account went to verify that
Outlook was working. All installs went fine except one wouldn't activate.
After multiple tries, finally got it to activate.

Imported the .pst files into Outlook. One went fine with no issues. Three of
them appeared to import fine but some folders were missing the emails.
Checked the old server and some were there, others not. One showed files
supposedly there but nothing showing. Somehow this account got a filter
applied which hid some of the email in some of the folders.

A couple had calendar issues and one had contact issues. A couple of PCs had
iTunes and iCloud software installed. Which didn't help much. Searched the
web for answers but didn't find much info that helped. Since most of the
important things were there they decided to just start from this point going
forward.

It seems every IMAP migration I do there are issues with calendars, contacts
and missing stuff during the export/import. Doing migrations from POP or on
premise Exchange usually goes according to plan.

Subject: [NTSysADM] OT: icloud with outlook IMAP

Hi all,

is anyone using icloud with outlook / IMAP, (Non EXCHANGE), for sycning
contacts?
I have a client that has several (5) imap accounts with outlook 2013 on
win7.

Here's the issue, when he opens a message in outlook and double clicks the
the address, SOME, NOT ALL, will show only the email address , and not show
the rest of the details (phone, first name/last name, etc..) , but in his
icloud account all the data does show (First name, last name, telephone #,
address, company etc..)

Anyone have an pointers or suggestions?
