Sort of progress, turns out if the client can find the proof of purchase , Netgear will honor the lifetime warranty :)
Looking at a bif IF though From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [NTSysADM] Bricked switch due to lacp? Date: Wed, 1 Apr 2015 10:25:41 -0400 Hi all, Have/had a netgear prosafe gs748t (yes i know its old) after setting up 4 ports in lacp, i lost connectivity to it, (no ping response, just simply not showing on the network, tried netscan and thedude but no luck) So I went to factory reset , after factory reset, ports 1-24 no longer light up at all. 25 -48 do light up but when I connect anything to it, it simply doesnt work. I tried dhcp router > switch > laptop, the laptop will not even get DHCP from the router , if I bypass the switch and plug the laptop to the router then I get DHCP as expected. So not only is the management function shot, but so is the routing/switching capability. I know by many accounts these are not the greatest switches, but for the price I gues thats what makes them attractive, the other surprising thing I found was that there is no console port (i guess that why they are inexpensive?) I'm wondering if anyone has come across this? If anyone has any thoughts/suggestions it would be greatly appreciated
