I prefer to create a group in AD then under attributes set HideFromAddressBook=True and specify a SMTP address. It sounds counterproductive but, by setting both attributes I have had the best success syncing and managing O365 groups from AD. Makes it simple when adding users or moving them around. Make the change in AD DirSync and done.
