I'm curious to know why the "sharing" button on the NT 4 server does not
present "caching" as an option. I know it shouldn't as that
functionality didn't exist then (or maybe MS provided an add-on). On a
Win 2000 server when I map to the NT 4 share in question I don't get the
"caching" functionality as an option. Am I missing something?

No, you can do so... The client in this situation becomes the sole
negotiator for replication conflicts when you synchronize. I've been
using
off line folder since W2K Beta1 on my laptop with NO problems.

You can configure the "cache" in the "sharing" properties of the shared
folder on a Win 2000 Server.
I've read an article (Art ID 20373) on the www.win2000mag.com site where
it
says "A Win2K file server isn't required". My question is, how do you
configure the "cache" in the "sharing" properties of a share on a
Windows NT
4.0 Server? Does its absence mean that you can't configure a Windows
2000
laptop for offline folders when the share in question reside on an NT 4
Server?

Thanks.
