Poorly written software.  Did you re-service pack it after you installed the software?  Our developers do that first if memory leaks occur.

Andrew you stud. Thanks for the tip. I noticed 2 instances of one piece of software using over 900mb of virtual memory each. This software was added a little over a month ago, and now that I think about, that's about the time these Virtual Memory errors started happening rather frequently.

 

So is this evidence of poorly written software, or are there any steps I can take to limit the amount of virtual memory these applications can use?

Well right now I'm showing a total of approx. 916000k Physical and approx. 660000k available with a file cache of approx. 32000k. I'll gather this information the next time I see the error message.

Hey folks,

 

2-3 times a week, I'll get a message on my Citrix Server that it's out of virtual memory. I can't narrow down any applications that may be causing a memory leak. There are a couple of DOS programs on the server which are checked to run in their own memory space. This is a Compaq Proliant ML530, Dual 866 PIII Xeon proc., 896MB RAM, (2) 9.1Gb disks. The page file is about twice the size of my physical RAM.  This server run NT4 TSE, sp5 and Citrix Metaframe 1.8, sp2.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might check out next? I'm in the process of running Performance Monitor right now, but wanted to check and see if there's any other areas I should be investigating.

 

I'm also experiencing infrequent blue screens with the same stop message, but I think I've narrowed this down to a printer driver conflict with one of the HP DeskJets installed.
