Sounds like you have been tricked. Did someone pasted a desk top screen shot on your machine??. I can not click icons on the desktop using the mouse. I can tap trough using keyboard and access them, but mouse click doesn't work. I can, however, use mouse clicks on Start menus. Mouse click just would not work on desktop icons. Also, it won't work on newly created icons, neither. Anyone seen this behavior before?? Thanks.
