(If you're using MTS) What is happening on your SQL machine? I've experienced unresponsive websites and they've usually been caused by problems with MTS packages. The other advantage to Gopal's suggestion is that if one f the sites hangs, you can often recover it by unloading it in IIS rather than restarting the machine.
