This client of ours is
planning to migrate their many NT domains to Win2K. They are planning to keep
the root domain of the forest empty. Current domains will be migrated as child
or grandchild of this root domain.
A new IT administrator
there, who has come from a large West Coast Bank, asserts that there
should be another empty domain under the root, with other domains being child or
grandchild of this second empty domain. According to him, his old company had
such an structure and it has some advantages over the long run, in case there is
a merger or buyout, etc.
I am unconvinced of the
advantages of 2nd empty domain. Have any of you heard such a thing? Please
comments - especially you, Greg Page. Thanks.
