The
old JetAdmin could take its time on some tasks as well. Updating and filtering
the list of printers found was a job best done during lunch breaks (or weekends,
in some cases) at one of my previous jobs. Of course, that was a college campus
with a fairly flat network and literally hundreds of HP printers...
My
only concern with Webjetadmin is the reliance on something that has already
proven vulnerable to an attack that will continue to be frequent. (CodeRed and
IIS worms in general). Granted, you could do a lot more damage running hpdwnld
and doing some "specific things" during a firmware upgrade, but at least that
was not related to any common IIS exploit or other internet
worm.
