go to control panel -> scheduled tasks -> add a new task

set up the task you want with security, etc,

go to advanced options -> settings tab -> at the bottom is a check box "wake the computer to run this task.

This doesn't work for shutdown or hibernate, but it will wake from standby/sleep.

then you train the users to standby/sleep  their machine instead of shutdown.

No, Windows 2000 does not provide system wake up. You computer BIOS would have to support this feature. Most Dell computers will allow to either do wake up on the LAN or allow you to set an ON time in the BIOS.

Subject: Bootup Question.?

Is there any way in windows 2000 to have the system startup at a specified time every night if it is shut down.
