The bottom line is they caught it. They leverage the resources of all
their customers to at least have IT security. How many small and medium
size businesses have a fraction of the IT Security staff salesforce.com
has?

I used to be pretty skeptical of the hosted solutions model, but the more
I think about it, I think it's the only viable way for small and medium
businesses to afford to have secure and reliable application services.
Just look at the often expressed laments on this list about getting budget
for basic IT fundamentals - with (good) hosted solutions, they just do it.
There's no way for managers to nickel and dime it - it just comes
bundled as part of the solution.
