We use an in-house Accellion. I don't think I've setup an FTP account for 3 years now, the thing is an absolute godsend and just stops all those calls @ 5pm because someone needs to get something out urgently so they need an FTP account and then the recipients firewall/proxy policy blocks FTP etc.
Allardsoft is very similar and might be worth a look. Personally we wouldn't use something like Dropbox because of the nature of the work we do and the audit trail etc. but I'm sure it would work if the data isn't sensitive and you're happy having it sat out there in the cloud.
