My biggest complain about them were those proprietary memory sticks that
wouldn´t sit right in the slots. Too much temperature variation, and we got
a bunch of machines not booting and needing the ram to be reseated... still
have two of those here, do not know what to do with them ...

Kayaks! +100
I also had the pleasure of having to support SGI 320 and 540 Visual
workstations.
What a disaster they were. SGI built them for windows 2k only to get delayed
(by MS) and they had to hack up drivers for NT to run them.
We had so many issues,(everything in them was priority except the hard
drive, and cd-rom) in the end SGI literally sent us 20 of each to keep on
the shelf for parts at no cost, then the next week pretty much closed that
whole line down.
I still have one 540 setup at new %work% as a conversation piece.

Will the new buyer have to stand behind what we are now getting from HP ??
I think that will depend on how things go down. One hopes HP will want
their customers taken care of.
Before I started at %WORK%, they were buying Gateway PCs. I put a stop to
that as soon as I could, but there were plenty around I still had to
support. Then Gateway sold their business PC division to MPC.
The warranties and support contracts basically evaporated. MPC said call
Gateway, Gateway said call MPC, I got nothing.
Shockingly, that division soon went out of business. It's almost like
their customers didn't trust them anymore. Whodathunkit?
