I'm looking at replacing our backup server. We're dumping around 12tb to tape each week so I'm keen on LTO5 to get the tape count down.
Part of speccing up the backup server will be to get good throughput from the disk array, but once you throw in pulling the data from deduplicated source disk there are quite a few variables. Does anyone have any real-world experience of LTO5 drives and at what point things like shoe-shining starts to be come a potential issue?
