Yeah I had a nasty feeling that might be the most pragmatic solution. I know you can go kludging the registry but I didn't know, and didn't manage to quickly find out, if there is a standard (god forbid!) for Windows 7 drivers where everything a driver install puts on your machine is recorded somewhere.
This is the Xerox Global Print Driver if anyone has been there before. To be fair it's been fine on most of our PC's but for some readon this one is just about screwed. ________________________________________ From: Ben Scott [[email protected]] Sent: 14 September 2011 6:07 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: Heavy Duty Print Driver Removal Tool? 2011/9/14 Paul Hutchings <[email protected]>: > Does anyone know of a utility that will remove all trace of a corrupt print > driver ... That's why wipe-and-reload is such a common solution. Specifically for this case, there's no way to know what the coinstaller routines for the print driver might have done. You can remove the driver from the Spooler service's registry, and delete files from %SystemRoot%\system32\spool\, but the coinstaller might have written to some place else in the registry, or to "Program Files", or done %DEITY% knows what to one of the many magical files that Windows uses to run. You might be able to find a vendor-specific driver removal tool if you go to the vendor's support site, but such tools are only as good as the programmers who write them.
