I haven't been paying too much attention to this, but the very fact that it gets installed on BlackBerry and Symbian too makes it pretty clear it's not an Android only thing. So why are you pointing the finger at Google? > Did the carriers put it on there without [Google] knowing? You're aware that Google doesn't actually *make* the cell phones, right? Google provides the Android software. The phone manufacturers obtain that from Google and customize it for the phones they build. The carriers then further customize it when they buy the phones. You make it sound like the mfgs/carriers would be doing something devious by installing software on their products without Google knowing. It's akin to asking, "Does Dell put software on Dell PCs without Microsoft knowing?" I wouldn't be surprised to hear Google was doing customer tracking (heck, I'd be surprised if they weren't), but I wouldn't expect them to outsource it to another company. Meanwhile, I have to wonder why you're so determined to blame Google for what appear to be the actions and products of others. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
