Yeah, writing it out in binary is great for getting an understanding of what's really going on. I'd highly recommend reading Ben's earlier post a few times to let it sink in. It isn't really complicated, but it does take a bit to get your head wrapped around it and figuring it all out in binary makes it much simpler since you can ignore the decimal translation, which is where a lot of the confusion comes in, for the time being.

I'd suggest at least getting a better understanding of what you have now, before you start renumbering. (Hint: A single byte allows 256 possible values, and IP starts counting from zero.) -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
