Maybe trace it with Wireshark or some other sniffer?

The spooler is fine...theses boxes cannot see the printers in the server
printer folder....for all intent and purpose, invisible.

A Konica C350 PCL 5

A Laserjet 5000 PCL 5c

An OCE CS2024

An OCE TDS450

It is only 3 of these Vista boxes that it is happening to, the other 3 are fine.

Yep same problem I had, ended up being print drivers not 100% compatabile with
Vista. What type of printers are you mapping to, my specific one was a Dell
1815, just the print driver. The latest print driver and firmware took care of
it for us, but I had to delete all the drivers from the Vista machine first and
then map it manually before it worked. XP machines no problems at all.

You will see your print spooler stopped, start it up its fine, and then when
you goto print or look at properties it will usually crash the spooler.

Oggetto: Vista weirdness

One of my sites has a weird issue with 3 Vista Business machines and printers.

When browsing the network to find printers, they see none. When browsing AD
they see the printers, but cannot connect. It's an SBS 2003 domain.

All pc's are Domain members. They have no issues with anything else.

They have 6 identical pc's, all bought from the same vendor at the same time,
the other 3 are fine.

They also have 6 XP machines. No issues with them at all.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Steve
