Don't forget that many of the "Big Boys" (Dell, IBM, HP, etc.) have out of 
band management cards that you can access remotely.  Some even have their 
own power supplies (so you can at least confirm if it's a power issue with 
the server or not).  These cards will let you do just about everything as 
if you were sitting at the local console - as well as provide all sorts of 
diagnostic information and even remote auto-notification.
