I think that Asterisk is a good solution, there are a couple of companies in my area whose sole business is deploying Asterisk based telephone systems. Lots of companies are using it in production.
When I last looked at Asterisk, it didn't support TCP-based SIP (only UDP-based SIP), and Exchange 2007 required TCP-based SIP; so it didn't meet my needs. That may have changed. I share that because you should evaluate the feature content of any solution to ensure that it meets the needs of your business. Regards, Michael B. Asterisk looks promising and seems to be well supported by the OSS community. I know there are companies out there that will sell me a name brand solution but we want to keep the cost down as much as possible. Anyone out there using VoIP and Open Source Software? What have been your experiences, pros and cons? What kind of phones are you using? Any information would be helpful.
