Had a 2k server a while back where dcom blew up and we couldn't get the console to open at all--it would just generate a failure message. I was finally able to fix with a chkdsk /r, then add/remove programs, windows components, and removing the dcom/com-related stuff (I think it was part of IIS or in that area--I had to remove more than we really wanted to). Then, added it back for the reinstall and re-patched the system. Had to do several reboots IIRC, and there was some downtime related.
Ultimately, there was an underlying hardware problem on that box though that caused the failure. I can't recall exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was something in the disk subsystem. -Bonnie -----Original Message----- From: Mathew Shember [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, January 28, 2008 4:36 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: DCOM corrupted? It is automatic and set to service. When I tried a domain account it blew up saying it was different from other processes. I am taking a guess that it may be security on some folders? Do you know where could I find what they should be? Orland, Kathleen wrote: > Make sure that the service "DCOM Server Process Launcher" is set to > "Automatic" mode.
