We have \\fileserver\home share, with share permissions of
Everyone:Full Control, and NTFS permissions of Read/Execute For this
Folder Only for Domain Users.

These permissions allow people to traverse the share to their home directories.

We then specify \\fileserver\home\%username% for home folder
specification with the H: drive in ADUC when the user is created. This
automagically expands the username and creates the
\\fileserver\home\%username% directory with Full Control permissions
for %username% on that folder, plus Full Control for Administrators as
well.
