One can only imagine computing power today if software were so efficient. I recall saving money as a kid ('80 or '81) to buy the 16K expansion for my VIC. PaperMate (word processor for the PET) didn't allow for much text in 3K. It was $116. Good times! I still remember reading the COMPUTE! article from the CES where they described the Amiga Loraine with 4,096 colors. If I recall correctly, they added something like, "no, that was not a misprint" because no one would have believed such a crazy number of colors.
