That's not the way it works. :-P DPM originally makes a bit-for-bit copy of the "thing" to be backed up. After that, only changed blocks are backed up. That's on disk. Generally, I see 50-60 generations of files being kept by clients.
You can do a tape dump of the full image but that's not really the way DPM is designed to work.
