My first “real” IT job was working alongside one of the most intelligent women I have met in my working career. Smart, knew how to talk to people back when techies weren’t exactly known for that and was willing to share knowledge anytime, no matter how much longer it took to do the task and explain at the same time.
In my current position, in my immediate circle of coworkers (AD, Exchange, SAN, Network), it’s mostly men but, if you take count in all of IT, the women outnumber the men. Came out that he thought she was a booth bunny and didn’t believe me that she was every bit as smart as any other attendee.
