I have four Active Directory integrated DNS Domain Controllers. Two are
Windows Server 2003 and two are Windows Server 2003 R2.

All four are displaying the same error in the DNS logs:

"The DNS server encountered error 9002 attempting to load zone . from Active
Directory. The DNS server will attempt to load this zone again on the next
timeout cycle. This can be caused by high Active Directory load and may be a
transient condition."

It would appear that the DNS server is speaking to the "." zone which loads
by default, but I don't have a "." zone, I have only one zone that is named.

I have found a couple of suggestions, one is to create a non active
directory zone and then delete my active directory zone, then create my
active directory zone again. The other suggestion I found was to create a
"." zone and then delete it.

I've tried creating and deleting a "." zone and this did not seem to solve
the problem. If I attempt to store the new zone in Active Directory I get
"The zone cannot be created. There was a server failure."

IF I go the other route, (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294328/en-us)
reconfigure my existing DNS zone as a flat file and not in the active
directory am I going to have downtime or can I do this during "business
hours?" (It seems that my "business hours" are actually between 4 AM and 3
AM and during certain times 24x7)

THANKS!
