Sorry to be a bit less than helpful, but I'm between cataract surgeries 
and am quite(!) visually handicapped at the moment...

I'd recommend against wiping out AD.

There are some support and diagnostic tools, including DCDIAG, which can 
(hopefully) give you some hints as to where the glitch is.  In my case, it 
turned out to be leaving out a checkmark when setting up the network 
configuration of some new DCs.
