Hi,

Probably a BIOS issue more than a Vista issue. But if you disable the ability
to use Hybrid Sleep in your Power Options, then you should be back to the older
Standby option IIRC

Cheers

Hi Ken

Apologies for hijacking your thread. I don't mind at all.

When I put my machine into sleep mode I cannot resume it no matter what I do.
It just stays in that state and I have no option but to pull the power cable
out of the back. Reading a number of articles this problem is quite common. I'm
hoping SP1 will resolve it but I am not totally convinced it will, as I have
installed a few Hotfixes that could possibly have helped, but to no avail.. The
problem is that I sometimes accidentally hit sleep on the shutdown menu when I
mean to hit shutdown or restart. The simplest way to avoid that problem would
be not to have it on that menu at all. So I am just wondering can it be done
and if so how please? It is not a major issue but it would be nice to know.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Paul Lemonidis.

Well, since my thread got hijacked, I'll re-hijack if you don't mind :-)

Why do you want to do this?

Cheers
Ken

Hi all

Can I ask this question too please. The problem I have is that there in the
option to disable hibernate under power options but not the sleep function. You
can set it to never but that doesn't get it off the shutdown options. I would
like the Sleep option to not be visible on the shutdown options at all but have
yet to find out how.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Paul Lemonidis.

Disable Hibernate (powercfg -h off) and then disable sleep support?

And sorry for hijacking the question, but how can one remove *both* options
from the shutdown menu?

Hi all,

On a couple of laptops I have both Sleep and Hibernate available from the Start
Menu

On my desktop I can have either Hibernate -or- Sleep (depending on what I
choose in the Power Options control panel).

How do I get both options onto the Start Menu? (at the moment I've created a
short cut to shutdown.exe -h and saved it onto the desktop to manually
hibernate).

TIA

Cheers
Ken
