Anyone have any ideas on this? Even basic troubleshooting for packets
being dropped. Anything outside of manually setting port speeds
everywhere, or is that a direction I may need to go? I'm already
thinking of manually setting the port connecting to my firewall to
100FDx, even though both sides are supposed to be Gig, but any other
tips/advice would be appreciated.

Subject: 3560 communication issues

Well, I'm almost there, but not quite. To catch everyone up:

New Cisco 3560 layer 3 switch - being used at this moment to replace a
2651 router.

Local workstations are connected to an HP 4108gl chassis, which is then
using a Gig port, TAGGED in all VLANs, to connect to the switch/router.

After trying 3 separate times, I finally got the HP and the 3560 to
start talking to each other, but now I have very inconsistent pings and
traceroutes. The ping targets are servers in my remote offices, which
are accessed through our ISP's network, not public internet.

When I traceroute with the router in place, I see names of each hop, and
it completes in a timely manner. When I traceroute with the 3560 in
place, it times out on the second hop, which is my firewall, then
continues on, eventually reaching the destination, however when it does,
it hops 3 or 4 more times, on that address, before it realizes that it
is at the final stop. I have text files with the ping results and
traceroutes if anyone is interested in seeing them. My first thought is
that the ports are not synching up as far as speed/duplex settings, but
I'm just not really sure.

I'm trying to get a "laundry list" of possible causes, so I can finally
get this thing in place and functioning properly. Unfortunately, I'm
unable to test any changes made until after business hours, which is why
I'd like to get as many possible causes, or really tie it down to one
thing, before planning the switchover again.
