What kind of throughput is ARCserve reporting? Is it slow on local backups or
just pulling across the network? Is compression enabled?

Do you have Arcserve configured to multiplex? Streaming from 4 servers at once
can make a significant difference.
I wish BackupExec did this to tape…

When it comes to how I drive, SLOW is not an option.

Hi Folks,

I am running Arcserve on a dedicated Windows 2003 server with an attached LTO1
changer that holds 8 tapes. I am backing up about 15 servers which are a
combination of Windows and Netware. Backups are taking longer than they should
- seems like lots of "pausing" or waiting for response from the backup agents
to push files.

Looking for suggestions to troubleshoot/correct. All servers are on a gig
backbone with gig cards (all set to auto on server and core switch). I am a
few patches behind on Arcserve, but patching really doesn't address performance
issues. Backups run during periods of light activity otherwise (evenings, as
we are not at 24/7 shop).

I know it's a stab in the dark at this point, but suggestions are appreciated.
