Sounds right.   Not sure how else they would be able to talk to your
network...  Unless your network is open to the outside world... 

I may not understand your question.   By "basically work as if you're at
a desktop" do you mean browse network shares, or do you mean something
like Remote Desktop (Which it has too...)

So the end result though is that you have to have WiFi on the device,
enabled, and use that to connect to the network.  Then you can browse
through network shares, is that about right?  If so, that's cool, as we
have no wireless access here, and allow only an extremely short list of
people to remote in, and that's using Citrix.

I used to have a WinMob and played around with this, that's all I know
about it. 

 

There is a also a VPN client on WinMob...  In case the device doesn't
have wifi...
