What you're looking for is running a DSL modem in Bridged mode. It becomes transparent to your network and passes the first IP to the firewall. Most modems I have ever used are able to do this. More importantly you need an ISP that allows it. Some will configure your modem anyway you want it, other will even walk you through it or provide instructions on their site. And some ISP's won't even let you change the internal IP of the gateway unless they do it for you remotely. Yeah, those ones have trust issues.

We have a watchguard x55e here doing the nitty gritty, but due to a freak chain of events both our SDSL line and our backup ADSL modem have gone POP!. I now need an Ethernet adsl modem for the working backup line, but that will pass all the traffic back to the watchguard so that it will do the VPN stuff. Oh, and I need to get it ordered before 4pm GMT :S </Eeek> Olly ~ Upgrade to Next Generation Antispam/Antivirus with Ninja! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbelt-software.com/SunbeltMessagingNinja.cfm> ~
