It's fairly popular here too. My sons have home-schooled friends and I've
coached baseball for several. They seem to be good, well adjusted kids. My
older son will be headed off to college in the fall (he's narrowed it down to
Clemson University and The College of Charleston) and all of his home-schooled
friends are getting accepted to pretty good colleges too. Admittedly it's a
small sampling.

Home-schooling is very popular where I live. I have no problem with it-and
don't think teachers/parents should have to be certified-so long as the kids
are learning at an appropriate rate. We have some parents here who do an
outstanding job of home-schooling their kids. Then we have some who can't even
read the form they have to fill out to withdraw their kids to home-school.

What caused that ruling was the law in California that you need to have a
teaching credential in order to home school your kids. I personally agree with
the requirement, as I love my wife very much, but I don't think she has the
skills necessary to teach our daughter to a level to meet the State Standards.

Arnie has apparently said that he will get the law changed, if the courts don't
overturn the original. In other words, he's going to try to make it easier to
homeschool your kids. If they aren't in the school system, they don't cost him
anything, I guess...

Sad state of affairs if you ask me. The last thing that should be cut is
always the first on the chopping block. Our kids' futures.
