Ahh... is that during boot time? If so, then the computer is not able to read
its own computer account information in AD. Make sure the computer account
(will be servername$) has read rights down the AD tree to the server object.

If that's during user (logon) time, I'd still think it might be something
similar--server can't read user object in AD. Could also be general AD
authentication though--got a different domain account you can try?

Hopefully; it's the only non-DC server, so I can't say for absolute
certain. (It's almost tempting to do a quick install on another box
just for grins...)

Oh oh. I started to say "no", but found a gem [for which I probably
should have checked before posting].

== begin ==

Source: Userenv
Event ID: 1053

Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The specified
domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.) Group Policy
processing aborted.

== end =

I started digging through old logs, and found a few more nuggets:

== begin ==

Source: Ci
Event ID: 4132
Event ID: 4124
Event ID: 4126

== end ==

Said Ci warning and errors began shortly after the first Userenv 1053.

Call me presumptuous, but I'm getting tempted to blame device drivers
and try a clean install. There's nothing production on the box yet, and
I'm getting a bit leery of it...

Thanks!
